Prof. Bala Bhaskaran

Academic Advisor

Dr Bala Bhaskaran is a management professional and teacher with active interest in the areas of Finance, Entrepreneurship, Business Strategy and Knowledge Management.

He studied at IIT, Madras, and IIM, Bangalore, and worked in the corporate sector for 18 years before moving to management education. He qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst and later completed PhD from Sardar Patel University, Anand. He has spent more than 25 years teaching management and institution building.

He was associated with IBS Ahmedabad [as Director for 15 years], and with Shanti Business School [Director for 7 years] as full-time engagements. He has been associated with IIM Ahmedabad, Nirma University [Institute of Management], Adani University, EDII etc. as a Visiting Faculty. He has been associated with ACVA, the institution that promotes Business Valuation as a profession.

cIn 2023-24, he did a revamping study of the PGDM program of GNIOT Institute of Management Studies [GIMS], NOIDA to make it more industry-oriented and current. At present he is Academic Advisor to Silver Oak Institute of Business Management to their PGDM program.

He has travelled abroad – Europe, UK, USA, and South Asia. He has published 4 edited books, several research papers/cases in national & international journals. He has been conducting case-workshops for management teachers.

He has been on the Board of MAS Financial Services Ltd, a company listed in NSE and BSE, as an Independent Director.

  • • Impact of the recent growth on digitization
  • • Key challenges and fault-lines
  • • Domestic challenges of reforms, transformation of organizations to digital era, creation of large no. new generation organizations
  • • Challenges of skill upgradation and Leadership for the above
  • • Challenges of leading the Global South [ Mantle of leadership of the Global South will be on India]

3. Leadership for the new roles (15 to 20 minutes)

  • • Understanding the Key elements of Leadership
  • • Nurturing the key elements
  • • Reforming the education system
  • • Nurturing strong linkage with industry and educational institutions
  • • Transforming people and creating ecosystems for the new era.
  • • Creating institutional frameworks
  • • Imbibing values for global leadership
  • • Imbibing values of social commitment and sustainability.

Total Time: 45-50 minutes, followed by a 10-15 minute Q&A and discussion session.
